First Khalistan Referendum in the USA Under Trump Held Successfully

Over 38,000 Sikhs Vote at Los Angeles Downtown Civic Center Plaza
Los Angeles, March 23 – The first-ever Khalistan Referendum in the United States under the Trump administration was successfully held at the Los Angeles Downtown Civic Center Plaza. Over 38,000 Sikhs participated, marking a significant moment for the Sikh separatist movement. This event was the third Khalistan Referendum voting center established in California.
Large crowds began gathering as early as 5 AM, despite voting being scheduled to start at 9 AM. Throughout the day, thousands of Sikhs stood in miles-long queues, waiting for hours to cast their votes. The massive turnout demonstrated the community’s strong commitment to establishing an independent Sikh state, Khalistan.
Despite efforts by the Indian government to pressure the U.S. into stopping the referendum, the event proceeded without disruption, marking another diplomatic setback for India. The Modi administration employed various tactics to deter participation, including using Indian media to spread fear. Reports falsely claimed that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids would take place on the day of the referendum. However, the Sikh community remained undeterred, with the large turnout reflecting their determination to secure Punjab’s independence from Indian rule.
It was also announced that the next phase of the Khalistan Referendum will take place in Washington, D.C., on August 17, 2025.
