Over the years, we have observed a significant gap in media coverage in New Zealand—both in Punjabi and English—when it comes to protests, events, and issues that challenge the Indian government’s human rights violations. Despite reaching out to numerous newspapers, websites, and radio stations to share information about protests and calls for action, we have encountered consistent silence.

The widespread influence of Indian government propaganda, backed by (161 Ranked) state-controlled media outlets, has led to the spread of misinformation and a distorted narrative against the Sikh community's right to freedom and justice. While mainstream media fails to cover these critical stories, the need for an independent platform has never been greater.

That is why NZ Sikh News was created.

NZ Sikh News is dedicated to providing unbiased, unfiltered, and fact-based reporting on issues that matter to Sikhs in New Zealand and across the world. Our mission is to:

Report news that mainstream media ignores—especially events and protests that highlight human rights violations.

Fact-check Indian media propaganda and expose misinformation targeting Sikhs.

Raise awareness about the ongoing Sikh struggle for justice and freedom.

Provide a platform for voices that are otherwise suppressed.
