27 January 2025

On 26 January, Indian Republic Day, massive Khalistan rallies were organized by Sikh communities around the world, marking a significant global push for the establishment of a Sikh homeland, Khalistan. The rallies, which drew unprecedented participation, were held in front of Indian embassies in various countries, breaking previous records in terms of turnout.

The movement gained momentum with rallies kicking off in Auckland, New Zealand, followed by major Australian cities such as Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth. In Europe, demonstrations were held in the United Kingdom and Italy. In North America, Vancouver and Ottawa in Canada, as well as New York and San Francisco in the United States, witnessed large gatherings. Other cities around the globe also joined in solidarity. Videos of these rallies went viral throughout the day, showcasing the scale and unity of the Sikh diaspora.

These global rallies were led by the organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), with support from various other Sikh groups, demonstrating unity for the cause of Khalistan. Sikh organizations worked together across continents to ensure the rallies were well-organized and impactful, emphasizing their collective demand for a separate Sikh homeland.

In addition to the global demonstrations, three significant Khalistan marches were organized within Punjab itself. Large numbers of people took part in these marches, which were led by Dal Khalsa and Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar). The participants demanded freedom for Punjab and called for a United Nations-supervised referendum to determine the region’s future.

The combination of global rallies and domestic marches underscores the growing momentum and international visibility of the Khalistan movement. Participants carried flags, banners, and raised slogans in a unified call for an independent Sikh homeland, highlighting the community's determination and collective efforts to advance their cause.
