London, January 29, 2025 - A recently leaked Home Office report has listed Hindu extremism among the nine emerging threats to the UK's national security.

This document, which was part of a 'Rapid Analytical Sprint' commissioned by Home Secretary Yvette Cooper in August 2024, marks the first time Hindutva, associated with Hindu nationalism, has been included as a potential security threat in a major UK policy report.

The report specifically references the 2022 Leicester riots, where tensions between Hindu and Muslim communities escalated, leading to widespread violence. It notes that Hindu nationalism becomes a threat when it encourages violence or fosters division within communities. The report also mentions that supporting Khalistan isn't necessarily a violent act.
